Quietly over the years this community has taken untold amounts of riverfront casino tax dollars and converted them into hundreds and hundreds of community improvement projects. No traffic, good health care, a stunningly beautiful downtown district, restored storefronts, a new YMCA under way, great services for seniors, a senior community center, a new central library of a size and quality rarely found in a town of this size, major historic districts filled will homes from the turn of the century through the 20's and 30's. Mixed forest lands mingling through the homes in the bluff areas. All of the big box stores zoned into a single area along the interstate, a complete reconstruction of all of the freeways around the city, endless community enrichment programs for kids, adults and seniors. The only negative is the climate, but that is why you get on a plane once in a while, particularly easy as you're just about 10 minutes away from the Omaha airport. Reasonable housing costs too. All of Omaha's shopping, theater and sporting venues are just across the river. The people that live there don't even begin to realize how great their little city has become over the past 15 years. Needless to day I am retiring there from Denver.
